Vancouver Pressed Flower Workshop | Learn How to Press Flowers, July 20

Join Lauren, the founder of Claxton Grove, July 20th to learn the traditional art of flower pressing in a fun and informative hands-on workshop. 

If you've ever been curious about how to press flowers, had a few unsuccessful attempts (hello brown, moldy flowers), or just love flowers and want to learn a new skill - this workshop is for you! 

Lauren will walk you through all the ins and outs of flower pressing, including the many tips and tricks she's gleaned in over 12 years of pressing flowers. 

You'll be guided through the flower pressing process from start to finish, from collecting and selecting the best blooms, to what to do with your flowers once they're pressed. We'll discuss different pressing methods, including techniques to press a variety of flowers (yes, even the tricky ones!).

No experience required! Everyone is welcome.

• Selecting the best flowers to press (there's more that goes into it than you'd think!) 
• Tips to help ensure the perfect press (and what to avoid)
• Different ways to set up your flower press 
• Techniques for pressing different types of flowers
  
• How to preserve colour when pressing
• What to do once your flowers are in the press
• How to store your flowers after they've been pressed
• Ideas on what you can do with your newly pressed flowers! 

Details:

Date: the workshop will take place on Sunday, July 20, 2025. 11:00am - 1:00pm 

Location: The Garden Strathcona Cafe (868 E Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC) 

We'll have the entire top floor to ourselves! Arrive a few minutes early if you'd like to grab a drink or treat from the cafe downstairs to enjoy during the workshop. It's such a pretty cafe and the perfect spot for a botanical themed workshop. You can take a peek at their website HERE

Each participant will receive the following:
🌼 A curated selection of seasonal flowers and foliage to press
🌼 A short handout with tips and techniques
🌼 A simple, travel flower press to use during the workshop, and take home to continue your practice

• Unfortunately, the venue I was able to book isn't wheelchair accessible. You'll need to be able to climb stairs to attend the workshop. Sorry about that.
